The first annual Fall Sprint Colorado will be held at Chatfield State Park in Littleton, CO. As always, this will be a great race for beginners and experienced racers. A beginners navigation clinic will be held prior to the start to help those who may not have done any orienteering before.

Maps won't be handed out until the pre-race briefing just before the race, and some won't be handed out until you reach a certain section in the race. The mystery behind the course is part of the experience.
Although the navigation will be on the easy side for experienced teams, the race is structured in such a way that experienced racers will still have to work hard for the duration.

No. As per the required gear list, you do not need (and cannot use) your own boat and/or paddles. You CAN, however, use your own life vests if you don't want to use the ones provided.
The race entry fee includes a race shirt, post-race meal, permit fee (not park entrance fee), insurance, and boat rental... not to mention a fun, challenging, and well organized event.
Flatlander Ultrarunners in Chicagoland is a running group based in the Chicago area, which includes "Flatlanders" from all over the Midwest and beyond. The group consists of ultra and trail runners, as well as those aspiring to try ultra and trail running. The group has no dues or fees and is not a for-profit venture. There is no owner or leader - this group exists by and through its members. The only requirement to be a Flatlander is a commitment to crew or pace another member, and to volunteer at one ultra per year.
